General
In the context of its activities, ALTERNATE België processes personal data.
Personal data is to be understood as any information relating to an identified or identifiable person.
Processing is to be interpreted broadly and means any operation or set of operations performed on personal data or on a set of personal data, whether or not by automated means, such as collection, recording, organisation, structuring, storage, adaptation or alteration, retrieval, consultation, use, disclosure by transmission, dissemination or otherwise making available, alignment or combination, restriction, erasure or destruction of data.
As ALTERNATE België values and respects the privacy and security of personal data, this personal data is processed exclusively in accordance with (i) Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC, better known as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) (in Dutch: Algemene Verordening Gegevensbescherming, AVG), as well as with (ii) all applicable national legislation.
The controller of your personal data
The bv ALTERNATE België, registered in the Crossroads Bank for Enterprises under number 0893.031.290, with its registered office at Oeyvaersbosch, 2630 Aartselaar, is the controller of your personal data.
This means that ALTERNATE België determines the purpose of and the means for the processing of personal data.
ALTERNATE België does so in its capacity as the company with which you maintain a contractual relationship (directly or indirectly) as a customer or supplier, or whose website you visit.
The purposes for which your personal data is processed
How?
ALTERNATE België collects personal data through (i) agreements that you conclude with us (directly or indirectly), (ii) the voluntary provision of this data by the data subject (whether or not via contact forms), (iii) the use of our website and social media (including the technologies linked to them, such as cookies).
What?
The personal data collected by ALTERNATE België consists of identification data, consumption habits, financial details, national register number, image recordings, sound recordings, academic curriculum, and professional experience (the last two only for applicants).
Why?
Personal data is always collected and processed by ALTERNATE België with a view to one or more specific purposes. The purposes for which ALTERNATE België processes personal data are the following: (i) to be able to perform the agreements concluded with it (including processing the order, keeping the customer informed of the status of the order, the proper functioning of the user account and game applications), (ii) to be able to comply with the applicable legal obligations, (iii) for marketing purposes (to which you may object at any time), (iv) for the improvement of our services, as well as (v) in the context of its recruitment policy (applicants).
Consequence of not providing it?
The provision of personal data is a necessary condition for concluding an agreement or for being able to use the applications of ALTERNATE België (user account and game applications). If the required personal data is not provided, no agreement can be concluded, or no access to these applications can be granted.
The period for which the personal data will be stored
Your personal data is retained for as long as necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was collected, in line with the legal, regulatory and internal requirements in this respect, and for no longer than 5 years after the end of the contractual relationship (with the exception of invoicing, which is retained for 7 years, and documentation required in connection with the handling of a warranty claim, which is retained for 10 years). This provision is of course without prejudice to your rights as set out infra sub. 5.
Your rights with regard to this processing
You have the right to access your personal data and the use we make of that personal data at any time, free of charge. You have the right to ask us to correct, supplement or delete your personal data. In a number of cases listed in the GDPR, you may also ask for the processing of your personal data to be restricted. You have the right to object to the processing of your personal data if you have serious and legitimate grounds for doing so that outweigh our need to process your data. You also always have the right to object to the use of personal data for direct marketing purposes, even without having to give a reason. You have the right to request your personal data in a digital and readable form and/or to have it transferred to other controllers or to another service provider of your choice. Insofar as our processing is based on your prior consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent.
You can exercise your rights by e-mail to privacy@alternate.be.

SSL encryption
To protect you as a customer, we use secure encryption technologies. With SSL (Secure Socket Layer), your personal data is used in encrypted form (not visible to third parties) on our site. In this way you can be sure that your data will only be visible to you and our server.
What does SSL encryption mean?
When you visit our SSL-secured site, your browser checks whether our server holds the correct SSL certificate. A digital SSL certificate is an electronic file that identifies unique computers and servers. Digital certificates allow the client (your web browser) to verify that the server you are trying to reach actually belongs to the website of ALTERNATE België, before a connection is established. When your computer sends data to our server, it is encrypted before being transmitted over the internet to our server.
How do you recognise websites with SSL encryption?
We use SSL encryption for all parts of our website. You can easily check this yourself. When you are on an encrypted website, in most modern browsers you will see a green padlock symbol appear next to the address bar. In addition, the URL of an encrypted page begins with 'https:// instead of 'http://'.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files that the server installs on your computer and that are necessary for browsing. Certain other cookies have other functions, such as remembering the details of the internet user when he logs in as a registered member of a website. Certain pages of the website use cookies to remember preferences or for technical reasons.
When using the website of ALTERNATE België, you will be asked to consent to cookies being placed on your device (with the exception of purely technical cookies for which no explicit consent from the user is required).
The ALTERNATE België site uses cookies which, among other things, make it possible to remember which items you place in your shopping basket. These cookies are automatically deleted after the ordering process has ended, that is to say after leaving the shop, and are therefore only active for one 'session'.
Furthermore, ALTERNATE België uses technologies to display advertisements on external websites. For this purpose, cookies are used to display advertisements on external sites with the aim of being able to advertise more effectively. These cookies are not personally identifiable.
Cookies are not retained for longer than necessary, with a maximum retention period of 2 years.
If you do not wish cookies to be placed on your computer, your browser settings can be adjusted accordingly. However, please note that in this case you will not be able to use all the functions on our website.
